Kelly Ripa has been rocking it on Live since ’01 when it was Live with Regis and Kelly. And now that her co-host Michael Strahan is (abruptly) leaving nobody knows who will fill the slot.
But why does anybody need to fill that spot at all?
Kelly has more than proved herself to be a captivating host. And with the well-known gender gap in single hosts (see Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and Late Night with Seth Meyers for examples), who’s to say Kelly Ripa couldn’t host this show on her own?
After Michael announced his departure, shocking Kelly and viewers alike, Kelly left the show with no warning. She returned, of course, and explained that she needed some time to gather her thoughts and then proceeded to discuss respect in the workplace as well as her unwavering devotion to the show (which clearly Michael was not showing, hint, hint).
With Michael leaving the nest in September and Kelly left to fend for herself, it’s up to the execs on what to do with the show next.
We’re all for sharing the spotlight, but in this case we think Kelly is ready to take this act solo.
