Lindy West, aka feminist journalist supreme, just wrote her new memoir Shrill, and it’s awesome, obviously.

Making her way through her book tour, Lindy is dropping juicy nuggets of wisdom and we are FREAKING OUT.

She describes her memoir as “largely about my journey from quiet to loud and figuring out how to be loud and big in all of these different areas,” to Newsweek.

But Lindy was off being awesome way before this publishing this memoir.

When Lindy was famously trolled by a man posing as her recently departed father, she reached out to the troll to have an open and honest conversation about why he felt the need to attack her (which she later recounted on This American Life.

She also helped start the hashtag #ShoutYourAbortion when pro-life supporters tried to get Planned Parenthood defunded last year.

And when she’s not making news, she’s writing about her personal life, about what it’s like to be fat (her words) in 2016 and fat-shamed on a constant basis.

Part of my work that’s gotten bigger and bigger and more explicitly important to me is helping other people feel less alone. I get emails that say, ‘Thank you, no one’s ever told me that I had value before.’ I mean, people don’t tell fat people that they have value. Women are devalued. There are so many different systems telling people they’re garbage in a million different ways.”

She adds that she hopes her writing will help people “feel less like garbage.”

With over 77,000 followers on Twitter and her work posted on The New York TimesCosmoJezebel, and The Guardian, we have a feeling Lindy is doing just that.
